Door to a Queen Anne house, Essex in 1974

Description

A wealthy Essex butcher, John Carcase Morley, built Bluebridge House in 1713 at Greenstead Green. It is a Grade II Listed Building. The Central 6-panel door with fanlight is set in a porch with open pediment on columns with neo-classical capitals. Above the porch is a stone

plaque dated 1714, with the name John Morley and the arms of the Butchers' Company. One of a collection of historical photographs taken in 1974 for a Readers Digest book.
